Formatting

The floating toolbar keeps frequent actions visible and places the rest in More formatting so the manuscript stays uncluttered.

Inline formatting

• Bold, italic, and underline
• Block quote

Block formatting

• Paragraph
• Heading 1, Heading 2, and Heading 3
• Bulleted and numbered lists

The More formatting menu also gives quick access to the device-local typeface, line spacing, and paragraph gap. The complete set remains available under Settings → Writing experience.

Apply formatting

1. Select text for inline emphasis, or place the cursor in a paragraph for a block style.
2. Choose the toolbar action.
3. Select an active action again to remove it, or choose Paragraph to return a heading to ordinary prose.

Lists continue when you press Enter. Press Enter on an empty list item to leave the list. Block quotes and headings remain part of the manuscript when you export to formats that support them.

Writing view versus manuscript structure

Typeface, editor text size, line spacing, paragraph gap, theme, and focus-mode defaults affect only this device's writing view. Headings, lists, block quotes, and inline emphasis are manuscript content and travel with the project.

Export styling is configured separately so a comfortable drafting view does not accidentally change a submission file.

Proposed edits

Formatter and AI-assisted edits are proposals. Open Edits to compare before and after text, then accept or dismiss each item. Accepted edits remain attributed in project history.

Formatter checks the enabled house-style rules and project dictionary. Keeping a spelling adds it to the project dictionary so the same form is not raised again. See Reviewing proposed edits.

Keyboard shortcuts

Standard platform shortcuts work for undo, redo, cut, copy, paste, bold, italic, and underline. Right-click inside the manuscript for the accessible editor action menu.

If formatting does not apply

• Confirm your role allows editing.
• Place the cursor inside the paragraph before choosing a heading or list.
• Select text before applying bold, italic, or underline.
• If Paste is disabled in the context menu, use the platform paste shortcut; some browsers do not expose clipboard permission to custom menus.
