Discourse

Discourse is an exploratory project conversation. Use it to talk through a decision, test assumptions, or investigate a weak spot over several turns. It can ask follow-up questions and cite relevant manuscript, Canon, and Reference material.

Start a session

  1. Open Ask → Discourse.
  2. Choose a text or voice session when voice is available.
  3. Set Ground in to the entire manuscript or a particular chapter.
  4. Bring one decision, uncertainty, or story question to the conversation.
  5. Select Finish & capture when the session reaches a useful stopping point.

The session remains in the project so you can return to its transcript and completion summary.

Choose the grounding scope

Choose a chapter when you want the conversation to stay close to one part of the draft. Choose the entire manuscript for project-wide consequences and patterns. Citations show which material supported a response.

Finish and capture

Finishing creates a reviewable summary of decisions and open questions. It may also prepare optional actions, such as confirming an existing Canon fact or leaving a chapter note. Review each action before applying or dismissing it.

Voice sessions

When voice is enabled:

  • microphone capture begins only after you choose to record;
  • stopping the microphone sends the recording for transcription;
  • the transcript becomes your visible message;
  • starting a new recording stops current playback; and
  • text input remains available throughout.

Voice availability and remaining minutes appear under Settings → Voice & audio. Reaching the voice limit does not remove text Discourse. The Privacy Notice and Voice settings describe the current handling of transcripts and audio.

What to expect

  • Discourse uses the selected scope and available project evidence; it may ask for clarification when the draft does not establish an answer.
  • A recent edit may not be available until sync and the Story index catch up.
  • Finishing a session is separate from applying its optional actions.
  • Session reasoning and summaries use the account's AI allowance; voice minutes are tracked separately.

Use Ask for a direct question and concise evidence-backed answer. Use Discourse when the question itself may evolve as you talk.
