Ask answers analytical questions about the open manuscript from manuscript passages, Canon, and project References.

Ask a useful question

1. Open Ask → Ask.
2. Confirm the project and current chapter in the context area.
3. Enter a specific question.
4. Read the response, then open its citation markers to inspect the supporting passage, Canon entry, or Reference.

Selected manuscript text can narrow the immediate context. A specific question usually produces a more useful answer than a broad request to review everything.

Useful questions

• Where was this object last seen?
• What has the reader learned about this relationship by this chapter?
• Which passages establish this world rule?
• Does this scene contradict a confirmed character trait?

Follow the citations

Claims should include citations. Select one to jump to its passage, Canon entry, or Reference. If the evidence is incomplete, treat the answer as a lead to inspect, not as manuscript truth.

Ask can also prepare an edit suggestion for review in Edits.

Manuscript citations jump into the editor. Canon citations open the relevant entity, and Reference citations open the Reference. If a citation no longer matches after heavy editing, open the named chapter or Reference and inspect the surrounding material.

Continue a conversation

Follow-up questions remain in the current conversation and can build on the previous answer. Start a new conversation when you change projects, topics, or the intended scope substantially.

Use Discourse when you want a longer exploratory session with questions, voice input, and a reviewable summary.

What to expect

• Ask may say that the available material is insufficient. That is preferable to an unsupported answer.
• A stale-story warning means recent edits may not yet be available to the answer. Wait for sync and try again.
• Canceling a response stops the current request; it does not delete earlier messages.
• Usage is shown under Settings → Usage & plan.
