Projects and manuscripts

Enspeller organizes work into a workspace, projects, manuscripts, and chapters. Choosing the right level keeps related material together without mixing separate drafts.

The hierarchy

text
Workspace
└── Project
    ├── Manuscript
    │ └── Chapters
    ├── Canon and References
├── Critic, Ask, and Bookclub results
    └── Settings, access, and history
  • A workspace is your personal or team area. The account switcher changes workspaces.
  • A project is a related body of work. It owns shared Canon, References, settings, access, conversations, and history.
  • A manuscript is one ordered draft or publication inside a project. It owns its title, word target, status, and binder.
  • A chapter is one editable item in the binder.

When to use another manuscript

Create a separate manuscript inside the same project for another volume, an alternate edition, or an independent draft that should share the project's Canon and References. Do not use a separate manuscript merely for the next chapter; add that chapter to the current binder.

Use a separate project when the work should have different collaborators, Canon, References, analysis rules, or history.

Create a project

  1. Open Home and select New project.
  2. Choose the category and subtype that best match the work.
  3. Enter the project and first manuscript titles.
  4. Choose the binder organization, intended audience, and optional word target.
  5. Start blank or import existing work.

The category helps Enspeller choose suitable labels and initial analysis settings. You can adjust the project profile later under Settings → Project.

Open and manage work

  • Select a project card on Home to see its manuscripts.
  • Use the star to keep important projects in the favorites section.
  • Sort Home by recent activity or title, and switch between card and list views.
  • Use the top-bar Project / Manuscript switcher while working.
  • Rename or change status from the relevant project or manuscript menu.

Archive safely

Archiving removes a project, manuscript, or chapter from the active workspace without presenting the action as permanent deletion. Read the confirmation dialog carefully; account closure is a different, irreversible action.

To find or restore a project:

  1. Open Home.
  2. Select Archived projects beside the new-project and import actions.
  3. Find the project and select Restore project.

The project returns to Your projects with its manuscripts, history, Canon, and settings. Restoration uses the synced archive, so reconnect first if the archive was made offline and has not appeared yet. A project editor or owner is required to restore a shared project.

Team ownership and access

A team member does not automatically receive every team project. Project owners grant access under Settings → Project access. Access to a project covers its manuscripts, Canon, References, analysis, and history according to the assigned role.

See Teams and project access for role behavior.

Common questions

Why did the binder change when I switched manuscripts?

Each manuscript has its own binder. Project-level Canon, References, settings, and history remain shared.

Where should a prior book in a series go?

Import it as a manuscript if you plan to edit or export it. Add it as a Reference if it should only provide supporting context.

Does renaming a project rename its manuscripts?

No. Project and manuscript titles are separate.
