Project settings
Project settings follow the active project and are shared with collaborators. Open a project before using these sections.
Project identity and profile
Under Settings → Project, you can change:
- the project title;
- supported format and subtype information;
- binder organization;
- intended audience; and
- the open manuscript's word target.
The profile determines useful labels and starting assumptions. Changing it does not rewrite or automatically reorganize existing chapters.
Manuscript target
The word target is a planning aid used for progress displays. It does not cap the manuscript or trigger an automatic export.
Critic settings
Under Settings → Critic:
- choose the available analysis mode;
- enable or disable Continuity, Character & Lore, and Structure;
- adjust engine sensitivity.
Manual waits for an explicit request. Paid projects default to Continuous, which reconciles changed material and runs affected Critic checks in the background. The first import indexes immediately before this later-edit policy applies. Free projects remain Manual. Turning off an engine prevents its new checks; it does not erase previously delivered findings.
Higher sensitivity asks an engine to surface more possibilities and may produce more intentional or low-confidence findings. Choose a level that matches how actively you want to review.
Formatter settings
Under Settings → Formatter:
- choose a house-style preset;
- enable or disable individual mechanical rules; and
- add or remove project dictionary words.
Formatter settings apply across manuscripts in the project. Dictionary entries are appropriate for names, invented terms, dialect, and intentional spellings.
Project access
Use Settings → Project access to grant, change, or remove access for active team members. See Teams and project access.
Archive the project
The Danger zone contains the project archive action. Archiving removes the project from active work for all devices after confirmation while retaining it for recovery. It is different from permanently closing a personal account. Restore it from Home → Archived projects → Restore project.
