Canon is the evidence-backed record of characters, locations, objects, relationships, and story rules found in the project.

Browse Canon

Open Canon → Canon, then filter or select an entity. Each entry can collect names and aliases, traits, relationships, important objects or locations, and the passages that established them.

Canon belongs to the project, so related manuscripts in the same project can share the same story record.

Extracted and confirmed facts

Extracted facts retain their source passages and freshness state. Confirm a fact when it expresses your intent. Author-confirmed facts are never overwritten by later extraction.

• Extracted means Enspeller found supporting manuscript evidence.
• Confirmed means a project member explicitly approved the fact.
• Stale means relevant manuscript material has changed since the fact was last checked.
• Conflicted means current evidence needs review; it does not automatically choose a winner.

Character tracking

Character entries collect established traits, relationships, aliases, and arc evidence. Open a citation to return to the chapter where Enspeller learned it.

Correcting Canon

Edit or confirm facts directly in Canon. The manuscript remains the writing source of truth.

If the manuscript changed, correct the prose first, then sync or rerun the relevant analysis. Confirming Canon is useful when an intended fact should guide future review even if it has not yet been stated prominently in the draft.

Duplicates and aliases

Two entries may refer to the same person, place, or object when the manuscript uses nicknames, titles, or spelling variants. Review the evidence before merging or treating them as aliases. Keep genuinely distinct entities separate even if their names are similar.

Canon versus References

Canon records project facts and author decisions. References are supporting files such as research, prior books, and notes. A Reference can inform an answer, but it does not replace a confirmed Canon fact or establish that something appears in the manuscript.
